I have a pair of Bates black leather military dress shoes. I want to know how to shine them to a high gloss?

- Ahh. The shining of military shoes. If they are what we reffer to as coraframs then they should already be pritty shiny. If they are take a slightly damp cloth and rub it across them then buff it with a dry cloth. If they are not coraframs then it is layers and layers of shoe polish. Put the shoe polish on the shoes. Buff the shoes with a brush and then with a soft cloth. This process will take some time. Sometimes if you get the shoe polish hot with a lighter it makes the process go faster. This takes lots of practice and I dont even try to do this.
- Get your can of basic black polish. Light the polish for a few seconds to melt a bit Rub melted polish on boot. Spit on polish as it starts to harden and dry (okay use a dab of water) Buff with brush then with cotton cloth. Shine will be strong and if this is done a few times will also become scuff proof.
- Spit Shine. http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/generalinfo/ht/spitshine.htm And, after you get a good shine going with black shoe polish, switch to neutral shoe polish. This will really make them shine. But, if you are doing this for a military inspection, you may fail the inspection. Some commands don't allow neutral shoe polish to be used for inspections.
- Hi, I wasn't sure if you were talking about combat boots or Army Class A shoes? Dress shoes I am assuming are the ones we wear in our Class A's. Anyway, if you clean them with a cloth and a little bit of Windex they shine perfectly!
