How long will dress shoes last? How can I make them last longer?

If I wear a pair of dress shoes for 10-12 hours/day five days a week, how long will they last? Anything I can do to make them last longer (black leather)? Do you think they will last six months, before they stop looking dressy? :) Thanks.

1. A lot depends on whether they were quality shoes to begin with. Some are great, but there are also a lot of poorly made shoes out there. To extend their life and good looks, there are two things you can do. First, polish them when you first get them, and continue to polish them regularly. Second, try not to wear them two days in a row. And of course, try not to step in puddles, snow, etc., if you can help it. They won't mind getting wet once in a while, but try to keep that to a minimum.
