Where are good places to get nice dresses for like a party in new york?

I may be going to a holiday party in new york and need some good stores to get dresses at. I have one that i love at white house black market but i was wondering if there were any other places?

1. H&M or urban outfitters is a nice place. For something thats a bit lower in price try forever 21 or wet seal, maybe even body central.
