Why do girls feel the need to dress/act inappropriately?

As a fellow woman, I feel that watching Britney Spears twirl around a pole in a pleather getup is really disrespectful to ALL girls. When girls dress this way, on TV or in public, i feel that when guys look at that they expect every girl to look that way and suddenly just being pretty without showing too much is no longer enough....why do some girls do this? do you agree?

1. Probably because the guys go after those type of girls.... but only go after them for fun..... they're not the type of girls they want to end up with.
2. I just think it's a confidence issue. So many women feel that they aren't good enough to be desirable to a man unless they are seen as sexy first. Sadly, I don't think a lot of women were raised to realize they are anything more than just a pretty girl (dang Princess complex). So when they grow up and deal with men, they think they need to put forth their best asset of "prettiness" not intelligence, independence, drive, wit, sense of humor...so many other things besides just being "pretty".
3. Just becuase Britney does that in a VIDEO or ON STAGE doesn't mean I expect the girl at the mall to be actting the same way. That isn't fair to Britney (I can't believe I typed that). She's doing what performers do, performing. It isn't right to blame her for the lack of self esteem in 'normal' girls. I don't think guys think every girl acts like that. The problem is girls THINK all guys are like that so they THINK they have to act that way.
4. that is actually the cause of most rapes...very short shorts,skirts, or jeans that are ripped just below the booty, or further up..*ahem*..on purpose are idiotic. low cut shirts aren't allowed at my school, but people get away with shorts that were probably bought in the underwear section...disgusting
5. Women have been dressing risque since the Roman times and you will always get those who flaunt and those who don't.
6. A beautiful face and hair style, combined with attractive but modest clothes, will bring you the kind of man you want.
7. First off, Britney is an entertainer - your not. Since the beginning of time men are always going to be attracted to the sexy girl. If your not sexy or hot, good luck getting noticed.
8. We as a society pay way too much attention to celebrites, to what they do, and to what they wear. It's getting out of hand. Look at what happened when Michael Jackson died. People were on TV sobbing and crying hysterically. Oh please. There are kids dying of malnutrition in Africa, people getting killed by terrorists in the Middle East, and unborn babies being murdered in abortion clinics. But people don't get broken up over this ... they get broken up over Michael Jackson. Our priorities are all f---ed up. .
