What is the material that is used in making hoop skirts that allows them to stand out. And is there a website?
I'm am making a costume for my son, however, it requires the same type of material that is used in hoop skirts so that the costume keeps it's form. If there is a website out there that could help it would be greatly appreciated. Please help !

- Crinolines were what kept skirts out - a series of hoops joined together with tape. I've found http://www.ehow.com/how_4811196_make-a-crinoline.html and there are several more if you google 'making crinolines'
- The use of a hoop or netting will let you keep parts of the costume in place. Netting (usually tulle) can be used to create a softer smoother shape but can settle and will need fluffed from time to time. A hoop skirt uses light weight metals to keep fabric away from the center of the hoop. Tulle is cheap and easy to fine at places like Wal-Mart. Tulle that is ruffled up for the puff up effect can be itchy against the skin so it isn't flat on the skin try to keep it from making to much contact. To get the effect you are looking for you will need to gather the tulle (see link below). If you are trying to make an actual crinoline I would recommend going to a resale store and seeing what you can find, they are rather hard to make. If you are just adding fill to something you can usually just crinkle it up an stuff the costume. http://home.scarlet.be/fenicia/tutoral/petticoat/petticoate.htm
