What kind of shoes to wear with skirts?

Ok-my teen daughter has started wearing only skirts to school. Since the weather is getting cooler, I need to get her some warmer footwear than flip flops and sandals. I was thinking about getting several pairs of leggings to wear under them. But I don't think she'd really be into boots. Would shoes like keds and low socks look ok with long skirts and leggings? Gee, I know I sound really old. Give me some suggestions! Thanks!
