Girls Dress

Do you think teenage girls dress provocative?

I think teenage girls dress way to sexy for school. I have 2 daughters and I would never let them dress this way. It amazes me at how many parents either don't care or don't know. I also feel that uniforms should be worn to combat this problem. What are your thoughts?

  1. I wish all schools were uniform. The way kids dress distract them from school work. Its great that you don't allow your girls to dress that way
  2. NOT MINE!
  3. Well, I think that a lot of girls do dress a little too skimpy. I am 16 and a lot of girls at my school dress up a little..showy? Then again, a lot of the girls don't. I think certain clothes are fine and that some girls follow the school dress code and aren't being too showy. The other girls, though, don't I like the idea of uniforms but I don't think that I'd want to wear them all the time because, when I buy a new pair of cute jeans or a nice top, I want people to see it. I guess weekends are good, though. Not every single school will enforce uniforms but I think its a great idea and I agree with you. =)
  4. I have a thirteen year old and a ten year old. I am completely disgusted when we go shopping for clothes. Why does an eight year old need a padded bra? What's up with the lingerie? It's wintertime here and most of the "shirts" available for my daughters are lingerie tops! Unbelievable! My daughters are too young to be dressing that way. Lingerie is supposed to be for UNDER the clothing, and not in sizes for girls that young! Even though the clothing is provocative, it is still up to the parents to have common sense about what is appropriate for their girls to wear. I guess some Moms want their daughters to be landing a man at a young age. That's all that clothing says to me...
  5. I think a lot of people of all ages dress to procavativly,.. especially the ones who complain about getting the attention from men, or claim they are harrassed with comments... but parents need to set the example for what they think is right for there kids and let them dress like skanks when they are old enough... unfortunatly a lot of the ones who dress like prostitutes are parented by ones who got knocked up when they were 15 and were probably dressing like a whore back in the day too :) EDIT: I don't necessarily believe in uniforms,.. but i think a dress code,. or standard of uniformity, is definatly necessary,. its a institution of learning afterall,. not a damn fashion show
  6. I kinda wonder how this happened because 15-20 years ago, the school I went to was pretty good about enforcing the school dress code. I even recall once I had leggings on and was sent home to change.
  7. i do think that some teens dress too provocative. especially when they wear mini skirts, where it barely covers them.. . i think they should bring uniforms ....
  8. I agree that many teenagers today dress inappropriately. Enforcing mandatory uniforms may be one possible solution. However, I have always believed that the parents are the ones who should be responsible for their children's wardrobe choices. Perhaps mandatory parenting classes should be another option considered. Just my 2cents!
  9. well i am 16 and i know what you mean. there is sooo much peer pressure to dress that way. i chose not to. what some others don't realize is that you can have personality, without showing off body parts. all of my clothes are cute, and fitted to my body, i get tons of compliments on my clothes from adults and my peers.
  10. They sure do... and I enjoy every minute of it... Makes me wish I was a teenager again.
  11. i am a teenage girl. if you look in magazines you can see that there are ways to be fashionable but classy. you should be able to express your individuality, i think. it is our decision. if you want to look like a piece of meat or garbage, go ahead, your daughters, give them some choice, but persist them to wear classy outfits. i recently read seventeen magazine and there were some really classy pretty outfits that were for all different figures and they showed what complemented certain people.
  12. i absolutely agree...personally the people i associate w/opt for the more chic and classy look...when these teens get older they will realize the failure of their ways
  13. i don't like uniforms because no one can express themselves in there clothes but some kids do dress provocative
  14. I totally agree with you... I, for myself, don't have any children yet, but I must say that teenage girls do dress provocative these days; more than in the 90's.... uniforms are an excellent way to control this problem, but I feel that sadly enough, they'll manage a way to get by nonetheless.... kids, I tell you.... we were all that age and we still managed to find a way around rules...... Hence, the rules should be even more strictly enforced to prevent rule breaking..... I must say that a-lot of this begins with the parents; if the parents don't raise kids the proper way, then of course we see things like this happen.... Anyway, interesting question; perhaps one day I'll have to deal with teenage daughters dressing provocative, but I will make sure that doesn't even become an issue!!! Later, take care, JME
