Why do girls dress really slutty?

I am 16 years of age (male) and cannot understand why girls in high school (mostly all) dress with extremely tight clothes, or whorish/revealing clothes? I mean sure there is the logic behind it, most love the attention albeit negative. I also have a gf, and she states because its trendy and in style. Does anyone here, male or female agree or disagree, or have another opinion in general? All opinions and answers will be greatly appreciated!

2. Because it make's them feel sexy and they love the style. I never dressed 'slutty' but I dressed in tight jeans and a tight shirt.. or a tshirt or a hoodie. I don't agree with the girl's dressing slutty though. I have no idea why girl's think having all their goods hangout is pretty. : /
3. Girls do it mainly to get attention, it is stupid but true. Its not in style and never has been trendy. Just because some celebrity dresses like a skank doesn't make it 'in style'.

5. Girls dress to compete with each other or impress other girls. Its not always about impressing guys. They look at what other girls are wearing and either try to one-up them, wear something better or gossip about how "slutty" the other girl is or what she is wearing. When girls go out, they call each other and find out what everyone is wearing. That gauges how conservative or less conservative groups of girls tend to be that day. Humans are just competitive by nature (some of us more than others) I'm sure you can think of many silly things guys do to compete with each other.
6. They do it because they know that guys like to look at it. Most men love seeing female boobs, a**es, and so on. I think it looks trashy and gross..but maybe that's why guys like it..because it makes the girl look easy?..I don't know. I think classy, body-shape flattering clothing is much better...but then again, I'm straight and a girl.
