Girls Dress

Why do moms let their little girls dress so provocatively?

Am I the only person that gets upset when moms let their little girls parade around in tiny miniskirts and strappy little tank tops? My little brother is in elementary school right now, and I am shocked every day to see how many girls are dressing in such skimpy clothes. I mean, do the moms want child molesters to target their kids? I just don't get it. Little girls are not supposed to be sexy, they're supposed to be sweet and innocent. I'm no prude, I think women should be able to show off their bodies, but little girls just aren't supposed to. Why do moms let their girls dress like that?

  1. I have no clue.....but I'm with you.... it's just WRONG.
  2. People like to dress there kids the way they dress. I dress my daughter in Cute clothes without making her look trashy. It is sad but they dont realize dressing there kids like this will get them attention from guys in middle school and make them be more experimental.
  3. I agree...what gets me worse though is the t-shirts little girls wear that say things like "Single and sexy" or "I love my boyfriend". Since when do 5-6 year old little girls have boyfriends or are considered sexy. Then everyone wonders why 9 year old girls are getting their periods and having sex at 11 or babies at 13. It is a sad world we live in...
  4. These are provocative times I guess. Fashion is god. Remember when women wore tights. Like mother. Like daughter.
  5. I am SOOOOO glad you asked this question! I have been living in Europe for the past few years but went back to the States to visit last month. I was absolutely appalled at the way the little girls were dressing. Even my own little cousin (age 11) came into my grandmother's house wearing complete makeup, tight shorts, and a spaghetti-strapped top that was barely big enough to cover her. And nobody said a thing! And then we wonder why our girls are getting pregnant at 13?! I really wish there was a way that we could penalize parents for allowing their kids to dress this way. Especially in schools, there should definitely be a dress code. So what if parents get pissed and start griping about their kids expressing individuality... who cares? I'd rather have these girls graduate and get jobs so I won't have to pay so many taxes to support them when they go on welfare. It's pitiful. American women are becoming the laughing stock of the globe.
  6. I agree completely. When I shop for my nieces, I am always shocked of the types of clothes that is sold in the girls toddler section. A little girl can be dressed cute, without looking like a miniature prostitute.
  7. I wonder the same thing all the time, another thing that gets me is all the high heels for little girls. There have been times I have had a hard time finding appropriate clothes for my girls and a lot of the Easter dresses look like a teenager should be wearing them the way they are cut and the fabrics used. I think it is a sad message to already be sending to girls that young that they have to look sexy to look good. I know it is not the kids fault my daughter has wanted a pleather skirt since she was 3 LOL but she did not get one.
  8. hi,.katy -everyone has preferences.,,.we all have ideas,.. good luck,.., http://www.fashions.com
  9. PPP (piss poor parenting) Most parents don't have the courage to say no to their children or they don't want to be like their parents who did say no to them. Either way it's bad for the kids to grow up without boundaries.
  10. I often wondered that myself until I stepped out of the baby department and into the little girls'. Sure, you can find modest clothing in your typical chain store (I'm thinking Wal-Mart, simply because I shop there) but you have to hunt for it. They prominently display skimpy halters, low-rise jeans, short shorts - it's disgusting, and I hate it. My daughter's clothes come from the boy's department and they will until she's old enough to understand what should be covered for safety, modesty, and sun protection (they're all white as milk - I have three daughters.) I think we can also blame our celebrity-driven culture - when's the last time you saw a teen pop idol decently dressed? They're naked on magazine covers (but God forbid you nurse a baby in public, that's pornographic! (and that's sarcasm.) naked in videos aired publicly near children (I saw Christina Aquilera's "Seven Year Itch" on the Disney channel. No kidding.) Our children idolize these underdressed, underfed idiots - that's pretty sick too. I'm stuck in a quandary trying to find modest, successful women for my daughters to emulate, and it's just not possible - everyone's naked.
  11. I agree. I'm not sure why. They are making themselves sexual beings- at 7. Children need time to be children!
  12. Moms usually buy there daughters clothes they want, because they dont feel like fighting with them. my step daughter is very skinny, but tall, and she thinks because she is skinny, she should be wearing size 3, 4. she is SIX. and her mom is OK with her wearing those clothes. I go to the store, and buy her 6's and tell her if she wont wear her size, then she can be naked. I refuse to have my daughter look like trash when she is at my house.
  13. I think it's because many parents out there don't have the guts to put the hammer down when it comes to setting clear limits for their kids. Yes, many kids- girls especially- have a passion for fashion. But that does not have to be equated with dressing like ladies of the night, and parents who allow their kids to dress like that are actually perpetuating those types of clothing styles. Plus, they're sending their kids the wrong message by promoting that kind of attire. A good alternative to those skimpy miniskirts could be "skorts" (skirtlike sets of shorts with an inseam to prevent them from being too revealing). And a stay-cool tank top could be looser rather than clingy, with wider non-spaghetti straps.
  14. i will never let my daughter dress like a little hooker it is hard to find appropriate clothing for girls thees days
  15. B\C THEY DON'T CARE
  16. I don't know, but my girls would NEVER be allowed to wear those things! My daughter is three and I won't let her wear any shorts or anything that come above her finger tips. I know she's only three, but I don't care! And I have also warned her about "Stranger Danger" and stuff. I don't know how moms could do that. It's just horrible.
  17. Moms for this generation are baby boomers. They were little sluts running around giving it to every guy in the name of "Free Love" being a hippy. Thnka God they are raising their girls to be just like them.
  18. Everybody is in a rush to grow up today for some reason and it's getting these young girls into trouble. I have three daughters and they dress respectively. No belly buttons hanging out or too short shorts and they will dress like that in my house and until they leave my house. I have had a talk with my 9 y/o about why I do not like the Bratz dolls she plays with and it's mostly because how they are dressed. I told her that God made our bodies especially for our husbands and wives to see, not to flaunt to the whole world. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a prude, I enjoy looking sexy for my husband, but its done tastefully. You don't have to have your breasts or tummy hanging out to be sexy and it's a shame that most women think that is what being sexy is all about today. All you can do is start at home with your daughter(s).
  19. I think that moms should monitor what their daughters wear especially since most teenager are developing quicker these days. Dressing provocatively sets these young girls up to be molested by a predator and it could be avoided by covering up.
  20. I agree totally. I do the same as ML. I buy my daughter shorts in the boys section because the girls are sooo short! It's annoying because I have to buy my daughter clothes that are 2 sizes too big so they cover her and then they look to big but at least she's decent.
  21. THANK YOU!!! I can't stand to see parents dressing their little girls up like hookers. Makes me think cootchie cutters for kids. I HATE it!
