Why do girls on the east coast have to dress SO sophiscated?

th majority of girls dress up in dark wash jeans and peacoats and peep toe heels and they, like, carry their givenchy satchels and their expensive, fancy pens. i was there for a few weeks and this girl who was like in all designer apparel comes up to me and looks at me in horror and goes :" omg you wear SNEAKERS in PUBLIC. sneakers are not considered shoes".. and i was just like "wtf s wrong with wearing sneakers" don't they ever just forget about fashion and dress comfortable and chill?

2. It's part of their culture. It's not just the east coast, overall it's wealthy people. And on the east coast, there happen to be a lot of wealthy people.
3. what's with looking nice and sophsicated? i HATE the sloppy sweatpants and sneakers look. a lot people want to try to look effortlessly put together and often FAIL. i live on the east coast new york and we're not ALL snobby and materialistic. we just like looking our best:=)
4. hahaha. i live on the east coast and i've never really thought about that...but now that you mention it, us east-coasters can be like that sometimes. but not all of us. it just depends where you are and what the occasion is. i guess it comes from east-coast culture. *shrug* dont really no a reason besides that. and p.s. i like sneakers too. they are considered shoes ;)

8. We're not all the same. l wear sneakers just about all the time. That's just how some people all it's not about living in the east coast
9. i live in NYC, and i dont dress at all like that. i ONLY wear sneakers (converse and Vans). you must have went to a really snobby place. i know here in NYC, they dont usually say anything to you about what you are wearing .

11. just like how you think "wtf s wrong with wearing sneakers?".. i can also then say wtf s wrong with being sophisticated? i live in new york city and no not everyone here on the east coast dresses like that but it's a part of our culture just like how every other region of the US has a certain flow. cities in the east coast, especially new york, are one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world. so fashion is a big influence here. we have our own way of dressing and we like it. being sophisticated is a part of "the norm" around here, it's just the way we are. we're not looking down on anyone just because we dress this way. those that do - well, that's their personality then you can't do anything about that. but again, it always depends. not all girls are alike obviously.
12. They just wanna look "fake" and "sexy." Don't let them get to you, follow your own style and don't listen to what they say. They want you to look just like them, and if you start wearing stuff they tell you to wear, are you gonna be happy with yourself? Heck no! So don't do it and you'll feel SO much better about yourself. Be confident and never let anybody get to you. :)) You have an AWESOME style that's completely you. That's the best style of all, you. :))
13. There's nothing wrong with how they dress - that is up to them, like the choice you make to go out the way you look. More to the point, I know lovely people whom wear design gear, and those who don't... so, by the sounds of your question, you're kinda saying, "designer label people suck" > due to your bad experience of that girl who is obviously a total ASS! Good and bad in all my friend, good and bad in all. :)
