Why is it recommended not to wear long skirts to court?
I asked a question earlier about what to wear to court for my court date and 2 answers said not to wear long skirts, which is what I was planning on. Why?

- The advice you received is ridiculous. A long skirt is fine.
- hahahah we like short skirts
- Court is a place for justice & seriousity, so people doesn't want to be disturb because skirts are more for wearing to a bistro or teaching students. Besides, if you cross your legs..... You'll see. That's why.
- the reason is in order for you to come our on top you gotta do like in the movie where the women (angelina jolie) had her legs crossed and uncrossed it in front of the judge exposing her stuff (sorta bribing the judge) and the only way you can accomplish that is with a short skirt
- I have no idea and never heard anything like that. Should be going dressed well, something that is suitable for business. Used to be that a dress or skirt and blouse was preferred to a pants suit for women, but not sure tht is still a legitimate rule of thumb. Long skirts tend to look more formal, but your age may be more important to that as older women have tendency to wear skirts that are long. I know of no rules as to length of a skirt. Best would be to ask your attorney if you are going to court with an attorney. he/she should be able to advise you. Can call the clerk's office to ask there if there are any rules about length of skirts or whatever. if you have good looking legs, doesn't hurt to show them but not more than about knee level.
- I suggest you google "proper attire in court". You'll find lots of reasonable advice.
