Why do girls dress so slutty at dances?

I got to school dances and like teen dance clubs and all the girls dress like skanks. Even the girls I know to be goody goody priss, they dress in almost nothing. What is the reason for even prissy girls to dress so skanky at dances. I also had another question. Do girls who are actually some what skanky dress like this because they plan on hooking-up? Or what? I'd love to know why, and what girls wanna do at dances? what are their intentions, if they dress like this?

1. they wanna show off their body to guys so guys will like them. I kinda hate it when girls are like that. It's soo slutty and they think they're so hott.
2. simple, its because they want attention. Any girl will do anything to stand out without looking stupid, so they dress like skanks instead.

4. I know what you mean. But it's the style. It's "IN" People think that the skankier they are, the more stats they have with guys and other groups. I think it's just scandalous. It's just not right. Even the prissy ones think it's cool. I know one thing, you wouldn't see me dressing like that to a dance.....
5. I have no idea why someone would even WANT TO DO THAT! but not all girls do that I think maybe it makes them be more attractive to guys but it seems lyk it actually turns them off. Yeah they want: 1. Hookup 2. wants to seem more "attractive" And girls want to talk and dance with their friends and nice guys in my opinion.

8. A lot of the time its because girls have low self esteem deep down in side and they feel they need to reveal themselves so that they will get the attention from guys. Some may dress this way in hopes of "hooking up" or some might just want guys to notice and talk to them...every ones different..but i think the root of the problem is having low self esteem...the ones who do go out to dances or clubs in hopes of having male interaction wear barley anything because they know it will catch the guys attention, but they'll grow up and learn.
