What are those cloth skirts called that island men wear with the cool colors and patterns? How do you tie one up around your waist?

- They're called pareos. Most of them are just a simple piece of rayon which is easy to tie. You can just tie it in a square knot on one side. There are also some with strings similar to apron strings. If you have that type, you wrap it around your waist and bring the strings areound and tie them on the side opposite the one where the ends of the main part overlap.
- A lava-lava is an article of daily clothing traditionally worn by Polynesians and other Oceanic peoples. The lava-lava is secured around the waist by means of an overhand knotting of the upper corners of the cloth; women often tuck the loose ends into the waistband while men usually allow them to hang in front.
