Why are girls so obsessed with how they look and dress?

I mean... Why do we wear miniskirts and stuff? Do we honestly want guys to look at us and automatically think "sex" or what... Girls that dress revealingly (is that a word?) and then complain guys are staring at their breasts annoy me... A guy friend once said to me that when guys look at girls dressed like that, they just see an invitation, not a person... Why do we care so much what guys think of us? Yes, we want to get boyfriends and stuff... But why do we have to dress like that to get one?

1. i think they obviously want guys to notice them but i think girls who do that make guys think they r slutts or hores
2. Girl psychology is like this: If you wear something like that you'll get more attention from guys that you otherwise might not. They want the attention and simply complain because they do not want to appear like sluts who enjoy that attention. Basically if they dress hot, more guys will like them. I don't do that but some of my friends do.
3. The media / Hollywood tells us we should care.
4. i care how i look but not for guys or girls for me i dnt wear miniskirts not for anyone(maybe except ryan or brendon cough)
5. We DON'T have to dress in flesh baring outfits to get a boyfriend. It's up to the individual. I happen to like dressing like that because it gives me confidence. If a guy only goes out with a girl for the .clothes we wear, well thats just pathetic. Sheesh, that question really makes me feel all sl*tty. THANKS ALOT!!!
6. Stuff that...no way am I going to wear something to impress someone. I dress how i like...if you want to judge me for what i wear and how i look, fine with me but i'm not looking a certain way to get your attention... Great attitude :D
7. I kind of dressed like that before and i soon realized that decent guys wont go for a girl like that. You will just attract the wrong type of guys... just like someone told me "you attract what you project." I really saw a difference when i dressed more decent tho.. cuz more decent looking guys would come holla at me, and not the playa types and "ayy shawty!!" type dudes.. but sometimes we still wanna look sexy but not overdo it. Yeah and i guess its attention too. I just like to dress up but i've toned it down... hehe

9. the girls who dress very revealing are dumb. i too honestly don't get why they dress the way they do and then get upset and piss and moan about how rude guys are by commenting wat they are wearing in a rude way. i think the only reason why they do that is because they are insecure maybe they don't kno how to talk to a guy so they use "what they were born with" get the guy they want instead of doing the normal way and asking him out.
10. true, the whole guy thing, but also, we dress the way we do to feel good. like when you wear a pair of skinny jeans and flats, you feel really pretty. i dont know, i just think that besides "impressing" the opposite sex, most girls just wear pretty clothes to feel pretty.. i know i do! and about the revealing-ish clothes, we just want to feel sexy yenno? and alot of girls ARE sexy, but still feel the need to wear revealing clothes, and when they do, guys will stare (duh)..sometimes its just kinda creepy, even though girls should already be expecting this kind of attention.
